2024 Executive Summary
2024 Report to the Community
Executive Summary
Overview
Since 2004, A+ Schools has worked to help you understand what’s happening in our public schools. The 2024 Report to the Community on Public School Progress in Pittsburgh looks again at the issues that keep every kid from being successful in every school every day. In our diverse schools where children of different abilities, backgrounds, and native tongues come together, we see equity as the set of strategies that can help all children be included in a thriving civil society and workforce.
We know that education is a key factor in creating communities that can flourish. In order for those communities to do well, children need the knowledge and skills that will help them succeed in college or careers. And that success starts with being in school every day. To get every child to school every day, these conditions must be met:
Every community is a place where all kids can get to school safely and on time,
Every family has what they need (healthcare, childcare, housing, work, and other supports) so kids can come to school ready to learn; and
Every school is a place where all students and staff feel they belong and are excited to be.
